This is a friend's baby. My sister is a wonderful photographer and I went with her to take these pictures. When I saw this photo, I fell in love with it. A week later, I was scheduled to fly home to Memphis for a visit and sketched this up really quickly to draw on the plane. The minute I got started, it irritated me. Nothing was looking right, no matter what I did. I messed with this drawing for six weeks before I said "Forget it," and started another one. Didn't look at it or show it to anyone for about a month, then my sister was flipping through my sketch book and the baby drawing came back to haunt me. Now, though, I think it's probably my favorite portrait drawing I've done so far. Definitely the most frustrating, but I think it turned out to be one of my best.
